Nearly every religion in the world teaches that to reach God, you must perform. You're told to keep the sacraments, do more good deeds, submit to certain principles, and so on. The message is that your sin is so bad, you have to make up for it somehow. But the Bible tells a different story. God says your sin is so severe that we could never make up for it ourselves-so He sent His Son to do that for us. It's not about doing more; it's about receiving what Jesus Christ has already done for you.
Cary Schmidt wrote a simple yet powerful book about this topic called Done. We'll be using it as a guide as we explore this subject over the first few weeks of the semester. We hope you can join us!
